Allan Cui

Allan has spent his career teaching Chinese in a wide range of schools and curricula across the APAC region, including in New Zealand and Australia. He is a versatile educator who builds strong relationships and bonds of trust with students, empowering them to develop their skills and faculties as Mandarin speakers.
Allan earned his bachelors and master’s degrees in teaching at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. He taught senior and middle school Chinese and ESOL/EAL curricula at one of the top independent high schools in New Zealand before he moved to Australia. He has teaching experience in internationally recognised university entrance examination systems like IB (International Baccalaureate) and CIE (Cambridge International Education).
As a citizen of New Zealand with an overseas background, Allan understands foreign language students’ learning needs.
He is currently teaching VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education) Chinese Language, Culture and Society and middle school Chinese at a secondary college in Melbourne, Australia.

In my teaching, I use a wide range of teaching strategies and techniques to ensure that I am flexible and can cater to the different learning needs of my students. I focus on encouraging and challenging students to achieve their potential and develop individual talents.
I’ve found that incorporating learning theories into lessons can help students frame and contextualize their learning; and, in the end, deepen the experience.
