Catherine Vincent
“I focus on nurturing a safe and inclusive environment that promotes growth and allows students to explore their full potential.”
Catherine, a holistic educator from Toronto, is a seasoned teacher with over 20 years of experience across subjects, settings, and age groups. With a background in both STEM and the humanities, she has taught English, math, literacy, and executive functioning from kindergarten through college. She also teaches science, art, and drama, and has led creative programs such as talent shows, improv clubs, and student performances that celebrate voice and imagination. Catherine’s approach is holistic, student-centered, and rooted in the belief that learning flourishes through connection, curiosity, and care.
She has worked in a wide range of environments—from large public schools to alternative private programs—and has a deep track record supporting students with multiple exceptionalities. Her special focus includes working with students with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and giftedness. As a Waldorf-trained math specialist, Catherine brings a unique perspective: students are seen as souls inhabiting bodies, and learning becomes a living, artistic, and developmental process. She is equally at home helping a student with significant learning gaps catch up to grade level, guiding advanced learners who want to move ahead, or facilitating non-traditional, student-led learning rooted in interests and curiosity.
Alongside her academic teaching, Catherine is a 500-hour certified yoga, mindfulness, and meditation teacher, and an intuitive energy healer trained through two medical intuitive mentorships. She has integrated creative movement, drama, and improv into classrooms and therapeutic settings, and her wellness work has expanded into leading corporate wellness events, international retreats, and community programs. She has also served marginalized populations through outreach programs for racialized seniors, homeless women, and trans youth, bringing education and healing into spaces that need it most. She currently serves as a Senior Wellness Advisor for a startup building smart cities and opportunities for youth.
Catherine holds a double major in Biology and English, with additional qualifications in Guidance, Special Education, and ESL. She studied expressive arts therapy at Lesley University, taking several courses before pausing for a leave of absence, and is currently pursuing somatic studies with Spiral Praxis, further blending education, creativity, and healing arts in her work. Currently slow-traveling through Southeast Asia—recently in Vietnam and soon Thailand—she continues to teach and learn across borders and cultures, honoring the wisdom that emerges from global exchange.
Her vision as a holistic educator bridges intellect, creativity, body, and spirit—helping learners flourish in every dimension of their being. Whether exploring mathematics, discovering the healing power of movement, or finding their writer’s voice to express ideas about the complexities of an ever-changing society, Catherine guides students toward confidence, curiosity, and meaningful engagement with the world around them.
In Catherine’s words
I am a holistic educator who believes in individualized education that addresses not only academic needs but also physical, mental, emotional, and social needs. I've spent much of my career specializing in supporting high-needs academic and behavioral students, providing unconditional positive regard, rapport-building based on student interests, warmth, compassion, humor, student-directed low-floor/high-ceiling projects, self-regulation opportunities, boundaries, and natural consequences.
I focus on nurturing a safe and inclusive environment that promotes growth and allows students to explore their full potential.
