Hanan Hammoud

“By fostering a collaborative and encouraging atmosphere, I encourage students to be curious, take risks, and strive for personal growth.”

Hanan Hammoud is a Lebanese-Italian educator with more than 21 years of experience teaching and tutoring mathematics across international school settings. She has taught students following IB DP and MYP, IGCSE, A-Level, AP, and SAT curricula, working with learners at a wide range of levels and ages. Hanan believes mathematics becomes much more meaningful when students understand the ideas behind the formulas and can see how they connect to the world around them. Her approach is supportive and personalized, with a focus on helping students build confidence, think independently, and develop a genuine understanding of mathematics.

Hanan holds a bachelor’s degree in pure mathematics and a master’s degree in education. She has completed IB Category 1 and Category 2 workshops and holds Apple Teacher certification. She is also currently pursuing a postgraduate diploma in AI and data sciences, exploring how modern AI tools and data-driven approaches can enhance student engagement and create more personalized learning experiences.

Throughout her career, Hanan has taught mathematics across a wide range of international curricula, including IGCSE, AS and A-Level, AP, and the International Baccalaureate. She has taught in international schools in Italy and the Gulf region and, after relocating back to Italy, now works as an independent educator. She currently supports students across a range of mathematics levels and has also prepared students for the SAT, giving her extensive experience helping students develop both conceptual understanding and the specific skills needed for high-stakes examinations.

Hanan enjoys adapting her teaching to the individual student rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. She takes the time to understand how a student thinks, where they are struggling, and what motivates them, then builds lessons around those needs. Her ongoing work in AI and data sciences reflects the same curiosity she brings to mathematics: a belief that learning should evolve with the world and that the right tools can help students become more engaged, capable, and independent learners.

Teaching philosophy

In Hanan’s words

I firmly believe in the uniqueness of every child and their individual contributions to their education. As an educator, I am dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where students can freely express themselves, accept their own identities, and appreciate the diversity of others. I understand that each classroom forms its own distinct community, and it is my role to guide each student in developing their full potential and discovering their preferred learning styles.

To achieve this, I design and implement a curriculum that caters to different learning styles, ensuring that the content remains relevant and meaningful to students' lives. I also incorporate individualized learning experiences that actively engage and stimulate students' learning processes. By fostering a collaborative and encouraging atmosphere, I encourage students to be curious, take risks, and strive for personal growth.

Outside of the classroom, I have a passion for traveling the world, as it allows me to broaden my experiences and perspectives. Currently, I am based in Quarto d'Altino, Veneto, Italy, where I reside with my husband and our one-year-old daughter.
