“My approach and teaching philosophy is that everyone has something to give and everyone has something to receive.”
Kerryn is an interior designer who has worked in a variety of environments, including designing high-end yachts and residences
After earning her bachelors degree in interior design, Kerryn spent several years as a yacht designer, pushing herself to strengthen her skills as a designer. She later then moved to a company where she is doing high end residential design.
The passion for interior design has always driven Kerryn to explore all the various aspects of the profession. At the yacht design company she was involved in hosting students from her university on their interior design tour of Cape Town. The hosting consisted of a boat yard tour and basic education of what the yacht design field involved. Through specializing in yacht design, Kerryn was then able to pass on her knowledge and train the many interns who were hosted, as well as the new employees that were hired.
Interacting and sharing with others ignited her passion for teaching, and now she looks forward to continuing along this path of guidance.
In Kerryn’s words
My approach and teaching philosophy is that everyone has something to give and everyone has something to receive. The idea is that students can learn from and be guided by the teacher, but also that the teacher can learn from the students. I think sharing information in a collaborative way is a beautiful thing that opens you up to learn from every person and situation. This ignites passion and really will make anyone, student or teacher, grow, learn and share knowledge and build a community.
