Laura is an experienced educator with a strong background in the humanities, language, and classical studies. She specializes in teaching Latin, literature, and history, bringing a deep understanding of language and its impact on texts. With years of experience in small-class and one-on-one instruction, she is committed to creating personalized and engaging learning experiences for her students.
Laura’s passion for individualized education began with her own homeschooling experience, where she discovered the flexibility and adaptability of different learning styles. She went on to earn a perfect SAT score and multiple AP exam scores of 5 before attending Baylor University as an honors scholar in the University Scholars program. Her studies encompassed linguistics, ancient history, and political philosophy, and she spent summers teaching English in Hong Kong, traveling in Argentina, and studying at Oxford.
She later earned a Master of Theological Studies from the University of Notre Dame, focusing on ancient languages and translation. After gaining experience in digital marketing, Laura returned to the classroom, where she has taught Latin, literature, and history at small schools in Jackson, Wyoming. She also founded a modern languages program, developing a Spanish curriculum from the ground up, and regularly tutors students in Spanish, literature, and standardized test preparation.
Laura enjoys designing curriculum and working closely with students in small class settings, ensuring that learning is both meaningful and efficient. Outside the classroom, she values adventure and the outdoors, always seeking new experiences that broaden her perspective as an educator..

I believe that the ideal form of education respects students’ time and opens opportunities for an unhurried and diverse life outside the classroom. Instead of spending eight hours a day sitting at a desk, students should be able to adapt their course load and schedule to create a flexible lifestyle that prioritizes what the student and their family value in and outside of education. I want more students to have the opportunity to learn in an environment that values time spent enjoying our beautiful world and pursuing their interests. One-on-one education provides the opportunity to tailor a course to the needs of the student, eliminating wasted time and promoting student growth.
I believe that high academic standards are not dependent on the volume of time spent in school, but on the quality of curriculum, instruction, and student motivation. In my teaching philosophy, these high standards in academic subjects go hand-in-hand with a sense of freedom and curiosity. Students discover their loves and interests through having teachers and curricula that expose them to new ideas and prompt them to ask questions and pursue the answers. The teacher exists to show the student what they do not yet know and to guide them into a life-long sense of wonder and pursuit of knowledge.
