Rashida Hassambay

Rashida is an experienced educator who has been teaching Science, Maths, and English to students of all levels since 2019. She is driven by a strong belief that holistic, purposeful education is key to addressing many of the world’s injustices. Currently pursuing a Master of Education in Australia, Rashida is committed to redefining education and leveraging her skills to foster meaningful global change.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from King’s College London, where her teaching journey began at the renowned Teddy Bear Hospital. There, she introduced preschoolers to gross anatomy through playful, hands-on sessions using ‘teddy bear cadavers.’ This formative experience sparked her passion for education and inspired her to explore innovative teaching methods.
After graduating, Rashida joined the corporate sector in Sri Lanka, where she designed gamified online training programs to equip white-collar professionals with essential 21st-century life skills. Recognising the importance of nurturing these skills from an early age, she transitioned into the classroom—teaching in local Sri Lankan schools and working virtually with students in the UK.
She blends academic instruction with life skills education across Science, Maths, and English curricula to empower her students beyond the textbook, and remains committed to doing so.

My teaching philosophy revolves around two core principles, both aimed at achieving purposeful education:
Help you, be you: I believe in pushing students to explore the boundaries of their own minds. Embracing the idea that humans are shaped by their experiences, I adopt a personalized approach to teaching, valuing the unique stories and perspectives of each student.
Always teach contextually: I’m passionate about connecting curriculum content to students' everyday lives. Whether exploring the chemistry behind breakfast preparation or the physics of thunderstorms, I ensure that learning is relevant and applicable. By teaching contextually, I empower students to apply their knowledge to benefit themselves and their communities.
