Ruhaza Ahamed

With more than ten years of experience working with children from ages 2.5 to 11, Ruhaza Ahamed is an AMI-trained Montessori educator who brings a warm, deeply individualized approach to teaching. Her career has taken her from Montessori preschool classrooms to an international school in Sri Lanka, where she taught students across the British National Curriculum. She has taught mathematics, English, art, and social and cultural studies, and believes that meaningful learning begins with understanding each child as an individual. Ruhaza’s approach is centered on curiosity, independence, and helping students discover confidence in their own ability to learn.
Ruhaza holds an AMI Diploma in Montessori education, as well as a postgraduate qualification in education. She also holds an MBA from the University of Gloucestershire, which broadened her understanding of leadership and organizations and added another dimension to her professional experience.
Ruhaza began her teaching career in a Montessori preschool, working with toddlers and early-primary learners before moving into an international school environment. Over the course of her career, she has supported children through some of the most formative years of their academic and personal development. Teaching across different subjects and educational approaches has given her a broad perspective on how differently children learn and the importance of adapting education to the individual rather than expecting every student to follow the same path.
After more than a decade in traditional classroom settings, Ruhaza chose to focus more fully on personalized learning experiences. She believes that effective teaching begins with understanding a student’s interests, strengths, challenges, confidence, and preferred ways of learning. From there, she builds lessons that are purposeful and engaging while remaining responsive to the student in front of her.
Ruhaza aims to create a nurturing learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and exploring new ideas. Her goal is not simply to help children develop academic skills, but also to foster independence, curiosity, and a genuine enjoyment of learning. This makes her particularly well suited to one-to-one education, where lessons can be shaped around each student’s pace, interests, and needs.
Outside of teaching, Ruhaza enjoys traveling, discovering new places, and learning from different cultures. She looks forward to getting to know each student as an individual and working alongside families to help them grow academically, personally, and confidently.
In Ruhaza’s words
After many years working with young learners, I prioritize hands-on learning alongside a curriculum. I firmly believe that children learn best when they are actively engaged in their learning process, and I strive to create an environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
I place great emphasis on making learning enjoyable and engaging for my students. Incorporating games and fun activities into my lessons not only reinforces concepts but also creates memorable learning experiences. For instance, I have found that students struggling with concepts like the times tables are more receptive to learning when presented in the form of a game or activity. By making learning fun, I aim to instill a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom.
In essence, my teaching philosophy revolves around creating a supportive and stimulating learning environment where every child feels valued, challenged, and motivated to reach their full potential. By nurturing their natural curiosity and providing meaningful learning experiences, I aim to equip my students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in school and beyond.
