Vyagale Maryland
“I believe students should be appropriately challenged and encouraged to recognize their own strengths”
Vyagale Maryland is an experienced educator, school administrator, and instructional leader who has spent a career supporting students, teachers, and school communities. Her work has included classroom teaching, district-level administration, program development, and supporting principals and teachers across a range of educational settings. She brings a practical, hands-on perspective to education, grounded in the belief that effective leadership begins with understanding what is actually happening in classrooms and responding to what students need.
Vyagale holds an administrative credential granted by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) in 2022 and moved to California in 2016 as an already fully credentialed administrator. Her background includes leadership in areas such as Title III, English as a second language (ESL), foreign languages, sustainability, and instructional support.
She began her administrative career after being recruited directly from the classroom by the superintendent of Montgomery Public Schools to serve as the district’s Title III, ESL, and Foreign Languages Director. In this role and throughout her subsequent career, she has developed and implemented programs, worked closely with school boards and district leadership, and supported teachers, students, families, and other stakeholders. She has also served as a district program manager, coordinating sustainability projects and facilitating internal and external committees focused on developing and implementing school- and district-wide initiatives.
A particularly important part of Vyagale’s work has been improving student outcomes through practical, targeted instructional support. Recently, she developed a comprehensive reading program at a middle school that helped many students make significant gains in their Lexile levels, with some reaching high-school reading levels within a relatively short period, as demonstrated by their SRI reading assessments.
Whether working as a classroom teacher, administrator, or consultant, Vyagale approaches education as a servant leader. She believes educators should lead by example, listen carefully to students and families, and create environments where students feel both supported and safe enough to learn. She brings persistence, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to meaningful improvement to her work with every school community.
In Vyagale’s words
I believe educational leadership begins with service, not with a title. I lead by example and try to bring compassion, honesty, empathy, dedication, and persistence to my work. Whether I am working with students, teachers, families, or colleagues, I believe people do their best when they feel respected, supported, and trusted.
Strong relationships are at the heart of my approach. I believe in clear communication, shared responsibility, and creating a culture where everyone feels like part of the same team. When I lead a project, I match responsibilities to people’s strengths, but I am also willing to roll up my sleeves and work alongside them. I want students and educators to see that leadership means listening, taking responsibility, and following through.
I believe every student deserves to feel safe, valued, and genuinely known. I also believe students should be appropriately challenged and encouraged to recognize their own strengths. In one-to-one learning especially, I value understanding each student as an individual—their interests, needs, motivations, and the ways they learn best.
I also believe teachers need to feel valued and supported. Strong educators need the trust, resources, and encouragement to do their work well, and I strive to help create that kind of environment. Ultimately, I see education as an opportunity to create positive change. I am committed to continuing to learn, asking thoughtful questions, and finding practical ways to help students and educators thrive.
