Take online AP courses, one to one.

Our AP courses are designed and led by teachers with deep experience teaching the AP curriculum and preparing students for the exam. Thirteen accredited online AP courses for grades 5–12, each delivered one-to-one.

Like all our courses, they're delivered one-to-one — which studies show leads to outcomes two standard deviations better than group instruction.

How it works

What an online AP course actually looks like.

Two live sessions a week with the same teacher, typically September through the May exam. We weave exam preparation into the curriculum from the start, so the AP format never feels bolted on at the end.

Because it's one-to-one, the pace bends to the student — more time where they struggle, faster where they don't. In the final weeks we calibrate the focus on exam prep to the student's confidence, test anxiety, and goals.

Built around your child

One teacher and one student means the material is pitched at the reader in front of them, not at an average student who doesn't exist.

Writing every week

Clear written argument is the skill that lasts. Work comes back marked and gets rewritten — the loop that class size takes away.

Discussion, not lecture

With one student in the room, the session is a conversation. Your child does most of the talking, and thinking out loud is the point.

Why it works

Why one-to-one for AP.

Exam prep from day one

Rather than cramming in the final weeks, we build the AP format into the work all year, so the exam feels familiar by the time it arrives.

A benchmark colleges recognize

AP lets colleges benchmark a student against a national standard — especially valuable for homeschoolers and worldschoolers building a transcript.

Calibrated to the student

One teacher, one student means the pace, the practice, and the final-weeks focus bend to this student's level, goals, and test anxiety.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about our online ap courses

When do AP courses start and how long do they run?

AP exams are generally scheduled for May, so most AP courses begin in September and run at least 30 weeks, with the final four to five weeks focused on exam preparation. Off-cycle starts can be arranged.

Do you prepare students for the AP exam?

Yes. We weave exam prep into the curriculum from the start, so by the end of the course the student is already comfortable with the kinds of questions and assignments that appear on the exam. In the final weeks we calibrate the focus to the student's confidence and test anxiety.

Are AP courses a good fit for homeschoolers?

Very much so. Homeschoolers and worldschoolers are often encouraged to take AP courses because they let colleges benchmark students against a recognized national standard, and because they're a strong test run for college-level work. Our one-to-one format offers that rigor with flexibility and personalization.

Do AP courses earn credit that travels?

Cicero is accredited with NCA CASI, NWAC and SACS CASI via Cognia, so coursework earns a transcript colleges recognize. AP exam scores are reported separately by the College Board.
