Mar Ripoll Gonzalvo

Mar is a language educator with a deep love for words, culture, and the ways language connects people. With years of experience teaching Spanish, Catalan, and English to learners of all ages and backgrounds, she approaches every class as a creative collaboration. Mar believes that language learning should feel alive—rooted in real communication, cultural exploration, and curiosity. Her classes are built around each student’s interests and goals, blending thoughtful structure with space for discovery.

Mar earned her degree in Catalan Philology from the University of Barcelona, where she specialized in language and immersed herself in subjects such as semantics, applied linguistics, pragmatics, and syntax. She later completed a Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) from the International University of Valencia. This combination of rigorous linguistic training and pedagogical study has given her a rich foundation for designing personalized, high-impact learning experiences.

Throughout her career, Mar has taught in both formal and informal learning settings, guiding students through everything from foundational grammar to advanced conversation and writing. She has developed and implemented customized curricula tailored to individual learning styles, often incorporating digital tools, interactive materials, and project-based work to make lessons engaging and relevant. Her goal is always to help students build confidence as communicators and see language as a bridge to understanding the world.

Beyond the classroom, Mar’s commitment to education extends to her community. At Esplai Sant Isidor, a non-profit organization for children, she volunteered for three years creating educational programs and mentoring younger volunteers—a role that strengthened her leadership and collaborative skills. She has also supported international students learning Catalan, conducting linguistic data collection and contributing to academic writing projects.

In addition to her educational work, Mar spent five years as an administrative assistant at a healthcare center, a role that honed her organization, precision, and sense of empathy—qualities that now inform her teaching.

At Cicero Learning, Mar continues to evolve her practice, experimenting with new methods and technologies to make language learning both personal and dynamic. She invites her students not just to study language, but to live it—to use it as a tool for connection, cultural appreciation, and lifelong growth.

Teaching Philosophy & Approach

Putting students at the center of the learning experience forms the core of my teaching approach. I believe that education is most effective when it is personalized to meet the diverse needs, interests, and learning styles of each student. As a language teacher, I strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment where learners feel encouraged to take risks, make mistakes, and grow. I see myself not just as a provider of knowledge but as a facilitator who guides students in discovering their own potential and building the confidence to express themselves.

To achieve this, I design lessons that are both engaging and adaptable, integrating traditional methods with modern, digital tools. Whether through interactive activities, multimedia resources, or real-world applications, I aim to make learning meaningful and relevant to my students’ lives. By fostering critical thinking and active participation, I encourage students to connect linguistic concepts to practical contexts, enabling them to develop not only language proficiency but also the skills needed to navigate an increasingly interconnected world.

I also view education as a collaborative endeavor. Just as students learn from me, I believe I can learn from them. Their feedback, questions, and perspectives help me to continuously refine my teaching strategies and remain responsive to their evolving needs. Beyond the classroom, I prioritize building strong relationships with my students, offering mentorship and support that extend beyond academics.

Ultimately, my goal as an educator is to empower students to become lifelong learners, confident communicators, and compassionate global citizens. I believe that teaching languages is not just about grammar and vocabulary but about opening doors to new cultures, ideas, and opportunities. Through my teaching, I hope to inspire my students to embrace curiosity, celebrate diversity, and pursue their passions with enthusiasm and determination.

“Just as students learn from me, I believe I can learn from them.”
