Natasha was raised as a third culture kid, living across many countries around the world. Originally from Russia, she grew up immersed in multiple languages and cultures, becoming fluent in English, French, and Spanish.
"My philosophy has its roots in the saying of Goethe: “Treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and you help them to become what they are capable of becoming"". As a teacher and a lifelong learner, I believe all learning should be relevant, fun, and the most worthwhile knowledge is the love of learning itself. <> <> Having lived and worked in 8 countries and traveled to over 70, values like diversity, multiculturalism and open-mindedness have determined who I am. As a language teacher and language learner (currently mastering my 6th- Hindi), I truly think that speaking another language opens up new ways of thinking and seeing the world. <> <> For me, building relationships and creating a safe feeling of community and trust with pupils is of the utmost importance. I enjoy fostering creativity and individuality, and I encourage pupils to ask questions, innovate, create and listen to others. I believe in the importance of soft skills that will help the future generations succeed in an ever-changing world, and it is the teacher-mentor who may help navigate the world through real-life examples, self- development and reflection. As Head of KS4, I believe in wellbeing and pastoral care, as much as I believe in academic fulfillment. <> <> With a pre-teaching career in international development and social impact for projects in countries like Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq and Syria, I strive to bring in perspectives on global issues, empathy, critical analysis and inclusion into my class. In class, inquiry-led learning helps students develop as human beings, while learning beyond the subject. When a pupil has a passion for knowledge, they will learn many skills: how to make mistakes and persevere, how to be kind, how to excel in personal and professional lives, how to be responsible global citizens. For me, teaching is also learning in the most unexpected circumstances, such as during a trek or at a friendly lunch with pupils, and from people: pupils, colleagues, staff, parents and the communities around school. I love engaging in extra-curricular activities like calligraphy, photography, baking and hiking. I also have a quirky art and dancing talent, which gets me carried away easily!"
