Dinh is a trans Vietnamese-American artist, designer, and educator with a diverse background in game design, industrial design, and sculpture.
I believe that teaching is about fostering curiosity, individuality, and a sense of belonging. I strive to create an environment where students feel seen, heard, and encouraged to explore themselves through design.
Teaching is both a collaborative and delicate process. As students discover their creative voices I prioritize being both a soundboard and a creative challenge. My goal is always to plant seeds of knowledge; and, I seek to help students grow both as designers and as people. This happens as I encourage students to experiment, make mistakes, and learn through iteration. I teach knowing that growth happens when things aren’t perfect.
Central to my philosophy is the belief that design is deeply personal. I encourage students to reflect on their lived experiences and cultural backgrounds as sources of inspiration. For me, the concept of home is a powerful starting point—a theme I often use to prompt students to think critically about how design shapes spaces, relationships, and identities. Through this lens, I hope students leave my classes not only with technical skills but also with a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.
