Merin has taught business, economics, and finance on both the high school and university level, and brings a strong international perspective to her work with students. She is an intellectually curious teacher who builds strong relationships with her students based around a love of inquiry.
Originally from India, Merin earned her bachelors and MBA at Calcutta University (Naipunnya Institute of Management and Information Technology) where she won many awards for her research on the banking sector. After her studies she worked in banking for a number of years before switching to academia and taking a position as an assistant professor of business and economics at Calcutta University.
Merin moved to the UAE a few years ago and began teaching the GCSE business and economics curriculum at St. Mary’s Catholic high school in Fujairah, where she works with 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students across all aspects of business and commerce, including business plan writing, finance and equities, accounting and management, and strategy and marketing.
Merin is an incredibly versatile educator who can build a course to a student’s interests.
My primary goal as a teacher is to excite the student and cultivate their innate curiosity. Once a student has intrinsic motivation, anything is possible.
