Kirpa Rai is an English educator and literacy specialist who has spent the past seven years helping students become thoughtful readers, confident writers, and curious thinkers. She has taught learners from elementary school through Advanced Placement English in both the United States and international schools, working with students from a wide range of cultural, linguistic, and academic backgrounds. Currently, she teaches high school English at Colegio Nueva Granada in Bogotá, Colombia, where she creates engaging, discussion-driven classrooms that encourage students to think critically, write with purpose, and develop a lifelong appreciation for literature. Kirpa believes that strong relationships and individualized instruction are at the heart of meaningful learning, and she works closely with each student to help them grow in confidence and independence.
I believe the best learning happens when students feel both supported and challenged. Whether I am helping a student prepare for the SAT, strengthen their academic writing, or develop confidence as a reader, I begin by understanding their individual strengths, goals, and learning style. Every student arrives with unique experiences and abilities, and my role is to meet them where they are while helping them move toward where they want to be.
As a teacher, I focus on making learning active, engaging, and meaningful. Rather than simply providing answers, I guide students through the process of thinking critically, asking questions, and developing strategies they can apply independently. In writing instruction, this means helping students understand how strong writing works while giving them opportunities to practice, reflect, and revise. In SAT preparation, it means teaching not only content and test-taking strategies but also the confidence and mindset needed to perform under pressure.
I believe growth comes from consistent practice, constructive feedback, and a willingness to embrace challenges. My goal is for students to leave each session with stronger skills, greater confidence, and a deeper understanding of their own learning process. Ultimately, I want students to see themselves not simply as test takers or students completing assignments, but as capable thinkers, writers, and lifelong learners.
