I believe that the role of a teacher is to accompany and guide students in their learning journey, serving as a facilitator of discovery. My main goal in teaching is to equip students with transferable skills, critical thinking abilities, and foundational knowledge that empower and motivate them along their learning paths. I view the teacher-student relationship as one rooted in respect and openness, where learning is a mutual exchange in which I also learn from my students as they learn from me.
My teaching approach prioritizes active and problem-based learning. In subjects such as economics, I acknowledge the importance of a strong theoretical foundation but emphasize the need to connect theory with real-world applications. While I embrace active, student-centered methodologies, I believe these approaches are most effective when firmly rooted in rigorous academic content. By integrating models and concepts with case studies, projects, and problem-solving activities, I ensure that students not only understand abstract frameworks but also develop the ability to apply them in practice. This alignment of theory and application enables them to see relevance in what they learn and to approach complex issues with confidence and creativity.
I also believe that every student is unique and brings special qualities to the classroom. Having taught in diverse international and bilingual contexts, I am attentive to the different ways students learn and I adapt my methodologies to respect cultural perspectives while maintaining high academic standards. I am committed to fostering an inclusive environment where students feel safe to express themselves, embrace their individuality, and respect the differences of others. My goal is to create a classroom community that encourages collaboration, curiosity, and risk-taking, where students are motivated to achieve their full potential (intellectually, socially, and personally), always respecting their differences.
Ultimately, my teaching philosophy reflects my commitment to education as a transformative process. I integrate my research experience into teaching, encouraging students not only to learn concepts but also to think critically, question assumptions, and approach knowledge with the mindset of researchers. I also remain open to new pedagogical tools, including digital resources and innovative methodologies, as part of my continuous professional development. Through respect, active engagement, and the integration of research and real-world experiences, I strive to inspire lifelong learners who are equipped to face the challenges of a complex and interconnected world.
